Football Queensland is pleased to announce the U13s and U15s squads which will represent the state at the Westfield National Youth Championships for Girls in July.
Each squad features 16 players and four shadow selections for the major tournament in Coffs Harbour, which brings together Australia’s brightest young female talents.
Queensland are reigning national champions in the U13s age group – notching four straight wins in 2015 – while the U15s finished third.
Shekinah Friske, Holly McQueen, Dominique Spampinato and Lua Suero all progress from that championship-winning U13s squad to join the U15s for this year’s tournament.
Charlotte Farmer (Souths United) and Jorja Thomson (Peninsula Power) will attempt to win back-to-back titles as part of the U13s group.
Both squads feature an even mix of regional and metro representatives with a total of 15 players selected from outside Brisbane.
The announcement follows a week-long selection camp at Football Queensland’s Meakin Park headquarters.
Both squads will return to Meakin Park for a pre-tournament between 28 June and 1 July ahead of the commencement of the Westfield National Youth Championships for Girls on Monday, 4 July.
