Football Queensland wishes to reiterate its confidence in the decision making processes followed during the selection panel’s deliberations over the makeup of PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues Women’s Queensland.
The review process began Monday, 19 June after FQ received applications from 23 clubs wishing to take part in the competition.
The review panel consisted of two FQ directors, two FFA representatives, and an independent fifth member with significant experience in the sports industry.
The panel evaluated applications on a wide range of factors, and clubs were graded against a list of 12 criteria:
- Teams
- Youth development
- Coaching
- Governance
- Finance
- Facilities
- Organisational structure
- Membership protection
- Medical
- Reporting
- Competition
- Commercial rights
The overall quality of applications was extremely high, and the panel was tasked with selecting the 14 strongest applications.
In addition to the above criteria, the panel had a responsibility to look towards the long-term future of the game to ensure football continues to thrive in Queensland.
While FQ acknowledges the disappointment expressed by unsuccessful clubs and their members, the reality of 23 applications for a 14-team competition meant difficult decisions had to be made, and the panel’s review was both comprehensive and carried out with full integrity.
FQ has reviewed its PS4 NPL Women’s Queensland application processes to ensure all relevant factors at the time of application were considered and the decisions reached were fair and reasonable, and in the best interests of football.
FQ reminds the football community that the successful applicants have been offered a licence and there may yet be some final adjustment depending on acceptance of the criteria by the applicants.
FQ believes PS4 NPL Women’s Queensland will be a strong, robust competition in 2018 and beyond.
