Football fans in Queensland have more elite international action in their state this month following confirmation Korea Republic will play fellow AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 contestants Uzbekistan, three days after their meeting with the Caltex Socceroos.
The Taeguk Warriors will face Uzbekistan’s White Wolves on Tuesday, 20 November 2018 at Brisbane’s Ballymore Stadium as both teams continue their build up to Asia’s showpiece international football tournament in the United Arab Emirates, which kicks off in January.
Already over 2,500 Korea Republic supporters have purchased tickets into the away team sections for Australia’s clash with Korea Republic at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday, 17 November 2018.
Football Federation Australia (FFA) Chief Executive Officer David Gallop said FFA is pleased to have been able to help arrange a further international friendly fixture in Brisbane, particularly given both teams are preparing for the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019.
“It is a credit to our people and to the city of Brisbane that we have been able to lure another strong Asian football nation to Queensland to play,” Gallop said.
“Like Australia, Korea Republic, Uzbekistan, as well as Lebanon who the Caltex Socceroos will play in Sydney, are preparing for next year’s AFC Asian Cup in the United Arab Emirates.
“To have four of the 24 competing nations coming to Australia just two months before the tournament is a credit to the type of facilities and organisation Australia can provide.”
Korea Republic will contest Group C at the AFC Asian Cup UAE 201 against the Philippines, Kyrgyzstan and China PR. Uzbekistan will compete in Group F alongside Japan, Oman, and Turkmenistan.
