After 10 rounds of action, the South East Queensland Futsal Premier League (SEQFPL) men’s and women’s semi-finals will be held this Saturday at Anna Meares Velodrome.

Galaxy FC vs Arana United
Saturday, 8 December at 5pm
Anna Meares Velodrome
Premiers Galaxy FC face Arana United in the first SEQFPL semi-final.
Head-to-head:
Galaxy FC have come out on top both times the teams met this season.
Hosting Arana United just last week, the Galaxy team rounded out the regular season with a 6-2 win over their Brisbane-based opponents, in part thanks to a hat-trick from Tal Galper in his only game of the season so far.
Round 5’s match-up also saw the Premiers come out victorious, defeating Arana United 7-5.
Run of form:
Galaxy FC have lost just one game this season, falling to defeat at the hands of Sunshine Coast Wave in Round 9 of the regular season.
Round 6 of the SEQFPL saw Galaxy put an incredible 46 goals past Bundaberg Futsal, with Galaxy’s Dallas Dack ending the season as the Golden Boot winner after scoring 31 goals in 10 games.
Two other Galaxy players, Rhys Buick and Adam Stacey, also finished the regular season on 27 and 26 goals respectively, proving that this team have no trouble finding the back of the net.
Arana United’s season has been less consistent so far, having won four of their 10 regular season games.
Their best win to date has been their Round 8 defeat of Bundaberg Futsal, which saw five players share the scoring, including Habibulla Mohammadi and Rohholla Mohammadi each netting five goals.
Having won two of their last three games, Arana United will need to overpower Galaxy FC for the first time this season if they are to make it to the SEQFPL Grand Final.
Sunshine Coast Wave vs Redlands United
Saturday, 8 December at 6.30pm
Anna Meares Velodrome
Sunshine Coast Wave host Redlands United in the second men’s SEQFPL semi-final this Saturday.
Head-to-head:
The two teams couldn’t be separated when they met in Round 3, having to settle for a 5-5 draw.
Redlands United came out on top in their last meeting, defeating Sunshine Coast 5-4 in a close win.
Run of form:
Sunshine Coast Wave have won seven of their 10 regular season matches this year, only falling to defeat once at the hands of semi-final opponents Redlands United.
Sunshine Coast’s Julian Edwards scored six goals to help the Wave to a 17-8 win last weekend in their final game of the regular season.
Redlands United have won six of their last seven games to round out the season.
Redlands’ Paulo Neto finished just two goals behind Galaxy’s Dallas Dack in this year’s Golden Boot race, scoring 29 goals in 10 games.
WOMEN
Sunshine Coast Wave vs SWQ Hurricanes
Saturday, 8 December at 2pm
Anna Meares Velodrome
Premiers Sunshine Coast Wave face SWQ Hurricanes in the first semi-final of the women’s SEQFPL.
Head-to-head:
SWQ Hurricanes are yet to defeat Sunshine Coast Wave this season.
The two teams faced each other just last week in Round 10 of the regular season, with Sunshine Coast Wave defeating SWQ Hurricanes 10-2.
In their Round 5 meeting, Sunshine Coast Wave put 17 goals past SWQ Hurricanes and conceded only one goal.
Run of form:
Sunshine Coast Wave finished the regular season undefeated, in part thanks to the goal scoring prowess of Sofie Persson who scored 20 goals in seven games for the Premiers.
Persson put five goals past the SWQ Hurricanes when the two teams met last weekend and could prove dangerous in this weekend’s semi-final.
SWQ Hurricanes have their own scoring weapon though – Louise Rolfe finished the regular season as the Golden Boot winner after netting 24 goals in seven games.
Despite Rolfe’s form though, SWQ Hurricanes have lost their last three games and will need to rediscover their winning form if they are to challenge Sunshine Coast in their semi-final match.

Anna Meares Velodrome
