Three Queensland referees have had the chance to officiate on the international stage at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in France.

Referees Kate Jacewicz and Casey Reibelt and Video Assistant Referee (VAR) Chris Beath were the three Australians among the 75-strong cohort of match officials appointed to the 2019 tournament.

While Reibelt and Beath have now finished their tournament duties, Gold Coast-raised Jacewicz has been retained as one of 11 referees for the final phase of the Women’s World Cup.

Having previously officiated at the FIFA Under 17 Women’s World Cup and the FIFA Under 20 Women’s World Cup, this year’s selection was both Reibelt and Jacewicz’s first FIFA Women’s World Cup appointment, while it was Beath’s first FIFA tournament appointment.

Reibelt made her Women’s World Cup refereeing debut in the Netherlands’ win over Cameroon in the group stages, while also being appointed fourth official to Norway and Nigeria’s group stage match and Germany and Nigeria’s Round of 16 game.

Beath meanwhile played a part in seven games as both VAR and Assistant VAR, including the quarter-final match between Germany and Sweden.
