The first Football Queensland (FQ) Technical Working Group meeting was held last Tuesday, 10 September at Meakin Park.
With a large reform agenda on the table, the working group Chaired by Jon McKain and involving technical directors from eight clubs across NPL, NPLW and FQPL, was productive and collaborative.
With twelve key football reform items tabled for discussion, the working group kicked off their first session with detailed discussions around technical models and team grading processes for the newly decoupled junior NPL and FQPL leagues.
Initial discussions around the potential naming conventions for the new leagues as well as analysis of the impacts of the proposed FFA star academy rating system were also looked at and will continue to be investigated further as part of the ongoing working group function over the coming months.
While the consultation process is only in the early stages, the depth of contribution and positive engagement by the technical directors is encouraging alongside the feedback received and the collective desire to deliver positive outcomes for the game.
The working group meets again this week and we look forward to continuing the consultation process and seeking input from our football community, clubs and stakeholders.
