Football will be featured in three categories at the 2019 Queensland Sport Awards, to be held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre on Saturday, 30 November.
Chris Beath, Warren Moon and National Premier Leagues (NPL) Queensland side Lions FC have been named finalists for awards at this year’s event for their achievements between 1 October 2018 and 30 September 2019.
Full time FFA referee Chris Beath has been recognised in the Officiator of the Year category after an outstanding year in which he was appointed to the AFC Asian Cup, the 2019 AFC Champions League, the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup and the FIFA U17 World Cup in Brazil.
NPL Queensland Head Coach Warren Moon and his Lions FC side have been named finalists in the Coach of the Year and the Team of the Year categories after an extremely successful 2019 season in which the team secured their second consecutive NPL Queensland Premiership, losing only two matches in the regular season and recording the best attacking and defensive record in the league.
Lions FC, with Moon at the helm, also qualified for back-to-back NPL Finals Series Grand Finals in 2019 following a successful run in the national competition.
