Semi Final 1: Sunshine Coast Wave v Ipswich Futsal
SEASON SO FAR:
Sunshine Coast Wave have had a near-perfect season, recording only one loss and one draw in ten matches to claim the 2019 SEQ FPL Premiership. Having won their last four in a row, the Premiers will be a tough team to beat as they look to do the double and secure the SEQ FPL Championship with a Grand Final win.
Wave have recorded the best offensive recording in the competition, recording some big wins throughout the season including a 9-0 win over Ipswich Futsal in the final round of the regular season, and a 9-2 victory against SWQ Hurricanes in Round 1 of the 2019 SEQ FPL.
Ipswich Futsal meanwhile have recorded a mixed bag of results in 2019, having secured three wins, one draw and six losses so far this season. Ipswich haven’t recorded a win since their Round 5 clash with Semi Final opponents Sunshine Coast Wave, where they came out on top in a 4-3 win.
With their three wins all coming in the front half of the season, Ipswich will look to turn their recent form around to push for a spot in the 2019 Grand Final.
HEAD-TO-HEAD:
Ipswich Futsal handed Sunshine Coast Wave their first loss of the 2019 SEQ FPL season in their Round 5 clash, where a Natasha Ridley double helped Ipswich to victory in the final minute of the game.
Their next encounter came just recently in the final round of the regular season, but produced a vastly different result. In their Round 10 clash, Wave put nine goals past their opponents thanks to a four-goal haul from Melissa Weckert and a hat-trick from teammate Alex Cannon.
KEY PLAYERS:
Sofie Persson (Sunshine Coast Wave): Selected in the 2019 SEQ FPL Team of the Season, Persson has been one of Wave’s most dominating players this season. Persson has scored 13 goals in nine matches for Wave to help her side to the Premiership and can help her side to a spot in the Grand Final in this Saturday’s Semi Final clash.
Sophie Weatherby (Ipswich Futsal): Weathersby has scored three goals in seven matches for Ipswich Futsal, including an important goal in her side’s Round 5 victory against Semi Final opponents Sunshine Coast Wave. Weatherby will look to repeat history come this Saturday to help her side book their spot in the 2019 Grand Final.

Semi Final 2: Arana United v Galaxy FC
SEASON SO FAR:
Arana United have been one of the strongest teams in the competition this year, and only just missed out on securing the SEQ FPL Premiership after falling behind Sunshine Coast Wave on goal difference.
Recording eight wins from ten matches, and only one loss and draw throughout the season, Arana have been the strongest defensive team in the competition and will now go in search of Championship glory after falling just short of the Premiership title.
Galaxy FC have produced more mixed results throughout the 2019 season. The Gold Coast side have secured three wins in their last five matches, and recorded an equal number of wins and losses in the regular season.
Coming off the back of a 3-2 Round 10 win against Lions, Galaxy will need to continue this winning form if they are to book a spot in the 2019 Grand Final.
HEAD-TO-HEAD:
Arana United have come out on top in both their encounters with their Semi Final opponents so far this year.
The two sides last met in Round 9, with Arana recording a 2-0 win thanks to a Jess Dillon double, while their Round 4 clash saw another Arana United victory with a 39th minute match winning goal from Georgina Bridges, her third goal of the match.
KEY PLAYERS:
Jess Dillon (Arana United): Featuring in two of five Team of the Week sides, Dillon’s performance this season earned her a spot in the 2019 Team of the Season. Dillon has scored seven goals in nine matches for her side, including four in her last two games and will look to extend her goal scoring run come this Saturday’s Semi Final.
Lucy Rowell (Galaxy FC): Rowell has been one of her side’s most consistent players, featuring in all ten of Galaxy’s matches in 2019. A substitute in the Team of the Season, Galaxy will look to players like Rowell in their Semi Final clash against Arana as they fight for a spot in the 2019 SEQ FPL Grand Final.
