The 2020 Football Foundation Cup will be held this Saturday, 1 February at Lions Stadium, with this year’s match to raise funds for Rural Aid’s bushfire relief.
The second annual Football Foundation Cup will see newly-promoted 2019 Football Queensland Premier League (FQPL) Premiers Sunshine Coast Wanderers travel south to take on National Premier Leagues (NPL) Queensland Premiers Lions FC.
FQ CEO Robert Cavallucci said he encourages the Queensland football community to get down to Lions Stadium to support the match, with all proceeds from the gold coin entry to be donated to Rural Aid’s bushfire relief.
“Football can play a crucial role in bringing people together, and as a governing body and sporting community we can provide powerful support in times of need,” Cavallucci said.
“We’re inviting all members of our football community to come together in support of this worthy cause to witness what is set to be a fascinating match between two of 2019’s most competitive teams.
“The Football Foundation Cup is the curtain-raiser to our NPL Queensland season, and we’re proud to be able to use the occasion to support Rural Aid’s bushfire relief following the devastating fires that have swept the country.”
Reigning NPL Queensland Premiers Lions FC will feature in their second Football Foundation Cup this year, after falling to defeat at the hands of Peninsula Power in last year’s inaugural match.
Entry to the 2020 Football Foundation Cup will be via gold coin donation, with all proceeds to be donated to Rural Aid’s bushfire relief.
