Football Queensland (FQ) has today announced it will deliver two Multicultural Settlement Program (MSP) pilot programs in Logan and Toowoomba kicking off next week.

Football Federation Australia (FFA)’s Multicultural Settlement Program engages and provides playing opportunities for newly-arrived migrants aged between 5 and 11, and aims to foster relationships between clubs, schools and local communities.

“Football Queensland is excited to work with Access Community Service and Multicultural Australia to deliver two Multicultural Settlement Program pilots in Logan and Toowoomba later this month,” FQ CEO Robert Cavallucci said.

“The free six-week MiniRoos programs aim to enhance social inclusion by providing a way for newly-arrived migrants and their families to connect with members of their local community.

“Football Queensland is committed to providing more opportunities for participants to join our game regardless of their age, gender or background by providing high-quality and accessible participation experiences.

“The Multicultural Settlement Program is a fantastic example of how we can put this into action by introducing football to children of all backgrounds who have arrived in Australia in the last five years.

“By welcoming these young players into our game, we can continue to grow football in an affordable, sustainable and enjoyable manner for our current and prospective participants as we work towards the key targets outlined in our Strategic Plan.

“Aligning with the Clubs & Community pillar in Football Queensland’s Strategic Plan, as an organisation we will measure our success by the successful roll-out of Indigenous, culturally diverse and all abilities programs, and the introduction of the Multicultural Settlement Program will help to create accessible talent pathways for all players while providing an opportunity for clubs to offer programs for casual and talented footballers alike.

Pilot Program 1 – Logan (with Access Community Service)
