Meakin Park will host the final SAP State Carnival of 2020 this weekend, with the Under 11 Skill Acquisition Phase (SAP) Boys State Carnival to be held on Saturday, 7 November and Sunday, 8 November.
Teams will travel from the five regional SAP centres in Far North and North Queensland, Central Queensland, Wide Bay and Mackay for the two-day carnival, which will also welcome sides from South West and South East Queensland.
“We’re looking forward to hosting this weekend’s Under 11 SAP Boys State Carnival, which will be the final SAP event of the year,” State Technical Director Gabor Ganczer said.
“It has been fantastic to be able to proceed with SAP carnivals across all age groups this year despite the challenges presented by COVID-19.
“By implementing a range of COVID Safe measures across each event, Football Queensland has been able to provide an opportunity for hundreds of talented young footballers from across the state to come up against their peers from other clubs and regions.
“The talent on show across each event has been very impressive, and I’m looking forward to seeing more of our young Queenslanders in action this weekend.
“The Under 11 SAP Boys State Carnival will welcome teams from each of our five regional SAP centres, alongside players from South West Queensland, Brisbane, Logan, Ipswich, the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast.
“Best of luck to all participating teams, players and coaches, and we hope you enjoy our final SAP event for 2020.”
To ensure the safety of all those in attendance, a number of COVID Safe measures will be in place at the venue including temperature checks on arrival, QR code attendance tracking measures, regular cleaning of facilities and equipment and social distancing requirements.
Two sessions will also be held on each day (morning session and afternoon session) to limit the number of players and spectators on-site at one time.
