Football Queensland (FQ) has delivered on its commitment to improve education opportunities for the state’s futsal coaches by bringing an AFC Futsal Level 1 Coaching Certificate course to Queensland.
Registration is now open for the course, which will be held at Super Futsal Carina in Brisbane from 12 to 17 April.
“In the 2020-2022 Futsal Strategy, Football Queensland made a commitment to improve education and development opportunities for our futsal coaches,” FQ CEO Robert Cavallucci said.
“Bringing this AFC course to Queensland for the first time in more than five years demonstrates that we are leading growth in both coaching numbers and standards.
“Delivering a greater volume of advanced courses means we can help our coaches become better while setting strong benchmarks moving forward for our futsal competitions and representative teams.
“FQ has worked hard to make this opportunity available and we thank Football Australia and the Asian Football Confederation for supporting it.”
The AFC Futsal Level 1 Coaching Certificate represents the first step on futsal’s advanced coaching pathway, building on Football Australia’s community-level Futsal Certificate and Futsal Licence qualifications.
It introduces the AFC coaching process and methodology, with an emphasis on developing technique and tactics among players.
“FQ is focused on leading the way in futsal coach development,” said Trevor Edwards, FQ Officer – Futsal.
“It is exciting to have an advanced AFC course coming to our state. Our next goal is to establish this course in Queensland on an annual basis, with regular opportunities to progress to Level 2.
“I strongly encourage all community-level futsal coaches to take this chance to strengthen their skills and knowledge, as that will become essential to coaching above club level.”
