Mackay will play host to a Regional Skill Acquisition Phase (SAP) Carnival this weekend, with the two-day event to welcome junior footballers from across regional Queensland.
Kicking off tomorrow, Saturday 7 August, boys and girls from Far North Queensland, North Queensland, Central Queensland, Wide Bay, and Mackay (Magpies Crusaders) will come together to represent their region in a what is set to be a memorable occasion.
FQ State Technical Director Gabor Ganczer said the Regional SAP Carnival will provide valuable playing and development opportunities for the 9 to 12-year-old players in attendance.
“This event is an excellent opportunity to test players’ skills and game understanding against the most committed and talented players from other regional centres,” Ganczer said.
“The regional SAP programs and carnivals are important stepping stones within Football Australia’s youth development system.
“On behalf of Football Queensland, I’d like to wish all teams the best of luck for this weekend’s Regional SAP Carnival.
“Please enjoy this opportunity to develop skills that can equip you for a successful football career for decades to come.”
A number of COVID Safe measures will be in place at the event, including a requirement to sign in and maintain social distancing while on site.
Attendees are reminded of to follow the Queensland Government restrictions currently in place.
