Football Queensland is proud to announce it has won the hosting rights for the 2022 National Futsal Championships, to be held on the Gold Coast from January 5 to January 9.
Football Australia today confirmed that the 2022 tournament will be held at the Gold Coast Sports and Leisure Centre as part of a Summer Festival of Futsal in Queensland.
“Football Queensland is delighted to be awarded the hosting rights for next year’s National Futsal Championships, to be held here in Queensland for the first time since 2006,” FQ President Ben Richardson said.
“This wonderful outcome is the result of the hard work of the Football Queensland team and a show of confidence in the ability of our organisation to deliver a major national event.
“There is no better place to be in the Australian Summer than on the beautiful Gold Coast, and we can’t wait to welcome participants and families from across the country for the 2022 National Futsal Championships.”
The National Futsal Championships will be complemented by follow-on events of Beach Soccer exhibition matches and the Gold Coast International Futsal tournament, delivering a true Summer Festival of Futsal.
“The National Futsal Championships are a highlight of the Australian football calendar, and we are excited to stage next year’s event at the state-of-the-art Gold Coast Sports and Leisure Centre,” FQ CEO Robert Cavallucci said.
“For the first time the Nationals will be held as part of a Summer Festival of Futsal, giving participants an opportunity to extend their stay to be part of Australia’s biggest club-based futsal tournament, the Gold Coast International.
“This will be a fantastic chance to bring the whole family to Queensland over the Summer break, with the Gold Coast offering a host of tourism and entertainment options alongside the range of futsal events being staged.
“Football Queensland looks forward to working with Football Australia in the coming months as we prepare to host an unforgettable National Futsal Championships right here in Queensland.”
