Football Queensland is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of former Queensland Socceroo and Olympian Colin Kitching.
Raised in Ipswich and a member of a family synonymous with football in Queensland, Colin’s early success in the game began in 1952 when he netted over 50 goals in one season for Bundamba Rangers, at the age of just 18.
He continued his strong goalscoring form as he went on to play for various Queensland state league clubs in the 1950s, winning Premiership titles with Blackstone (1953) and Bundamba (1955 and 1957) in Ipswich and Hellenic (1960 and 1963) in Brisbane.
In 1955, Colin debuted for the national team and made a total of six international appearances for Australia, including at the 1956 Olympics.
Colin will be remembered as a great footballer and an even greater contributor to the game here in Queensland.
Football Queensland extends its condolences to Colin’s family and loved ones.
