Two rounds into QPL 3 football on the Downs, and already some teams are starting to flex and show their potential. Here is your Round 3 preview;
Womens QPL 3
After a tough home loss last Saturday, Gatton can hit the reset button against Highfields ‘Green’ who are also coming off a loss to the Rovers. Both sides will be eager to get their season heading in the right trajectory with a valuable 3 points.
Fully rested from the Bye weekend, Hawks will feel their game against USQFC this weekend is a must win to stay with the competition front runners. USQFC will also be of the same opinion, and will want to bounce back from their loss to the ‘Rubies’.
The ‘Rubies’ thus far have proved to be the surprise package of the competition with a 2 (wins) and 0 (losses) start to the season. They take on a Wanderers outfit who will need to find a remedy in their defence to stop the high flying likes of Joyce De Wit and others.
In what would’ve been the Match of the Round the Highfields ‘Gold’ Vs Rockville, fixture has been rescheduled and we can’t wait to see how this one plays out sometime soon.
Mens QPL 3
Gatton taking down current Premiers St Albans last weekend has shown the rest of the competition that the Redbacks are no pretenders in 2022. They face another huge test to their undefeated run with the travelling Rovers heading down the mountain. Rovers will be keen to’ have a party’ in Gatton’s backyard. And with both teams featuring strike weapons on front, both defences could be in for a long 90 mins.
The last time Wanderers met Willowburn in pre-season, it was a big night out for the Eagles winning 7-2. One thing we could expect is some a response from the magpies. With both teams having quality mid-fields, we can expect a bit of fireworks come Saturday Night.
A draw and a loss is not the way St Albans would’ve wanted their title defence to start, and neither is two losses on the trot for Highfields. Two teams hungry for those precious 3 points, sound like a perfect game for Sunday afternoon at Middle Ridge Park.
