Full QPL3 Darling Downs fixtures finally return this weekend after an extended break due to wet weather.
Here is your round preview.
FQPL3 DD Women
Another inter-club derby between the Rubies and Rovers. With both teams knocking on the door of the top four. This should be a great battle, between the two teams. The Rovers have the more experienced players in their line up, but if the Rubies can match their energy and enthusiasm it could be a tighter match then many would predict.
Willowburn & USQFC played each other 6 days earlier, and it will be interesting to see what both clubs have learnt from each other from that match. USQFC have demonstrated in the earlier games this year that they can rise to adversity, and no doubt will be keen to take the magpie scalp. Whilst for Willowburn, they’ll be very keen to maintain their top spot.
In our match of the round Hawks take on Highfields Gold, with both teams having games in hand and only two points splitting them, this will be a great match up. Hawks have shown they are the real deal this year with some impressive results and will be up for this challenge.
Our Sunday match sees Wanderers host Highfields Green. A win to Wanderers would see them equal on points with 7th placed Green. And a win to Highfields keeps them in touching distance of the top four.
FQPL3 DD Men
St Albans returned to the winner’s circle last weekend after a win against Gatton at home. They host Rockville on Saturday night and despite a scrappy and sloppy start, another 3 points could potentially put Saints into fourth. Rockville’s last outing was one they’d rather forget against Wanderers, and so they will be keen to get back to their best football.
Willowburn take the trip to Gatton on a Sunday afternoon, and despite no football being played in the last 3-4 weeks, it has allowed some players to return from injury. Gatton will be desperate to get their season back on track with a win. And 3 points against top place could do just that.
Wanderers host Highfields in the final match of the round. Highfields will be buoyed with confidence that not only did they draw when they last played against WW, they are showing they have the attacking arsenal to hurt teams on the counter attack. Wanderers had a big win in their last outing and that will give them huge belief to take all 3 points.
