Australia Cup and Kappa Women’s Super Cup opening rounds draw details confirmed

Football Queensland has confirmed the details for the opening rounds draws for the 2023 edition of the Australia Cup and Kappa Women’s Super Cup (KWSC). 

Fixtures for the Australia Cup will be released on Thursday, 26 January, with the KWSC draw released the following day on Friday, 27 January. 

In an exciting first for the region, Mount Isa will be represented with clubs participating in both the Australia Cup and Kappa Women’s Super Cup tournaments in 2023.

The Australia Cup Queensland Preliminary Rounds draw will determine South East Queensland (SEQ) Rounds 2 and 3 and regional Rounds 1-4 fixtures, with one round in the Northern region. 

105 teams from across regional and SEQ will participate in the Preliminary Rounds draw, including four from Mount Isa.

12 FQPL 2 teams will be added in Round 3, with NPL and FQPL 1 teams joining the following round.

For the 2023 Australia Cup, the regional final winner will join the SEQ clubs in Round 7 of the knockout tournament to determine the four teams to represent Queensland in the national stage of the competition. 

As the third edition of the KWSC draws closer, a total of 54 teams from across regional and SEQ have entered this year’s tournament. 

The upcoming opening rounds draw release will determine fixtures for SEQ Rounds 1-3 and regional Rounds 1-4. 

In a slight change from last season, the SEQ conference has been broken into a region-based knockout format; with Metro and Sunshine Coast sides participating in Round 1, Darling Downs and South Coast teams added in Round 2 and the remaining teams from all four regions going head-to-head in Round 3.
