Budding football stars will compete for state team selection at the FQ Academy State Championships ahead of the 2023 National Youth Championships where they will hope to repeat the impressive Queensland performance showcased in 2022.
Set to kick off from Tuesday, 4 July to Saturday 8 July at the South Pine Sports Complex in partnership with the Moreton Bay Regional Council, the FQ Academy State Championships will welcome Under 13 to Under 16 teams from across Queensland.
“Our FQ Academy carnivals play a major role in the talent identification process for state team selections, and with our national competitions, such as the National Youth Championships, drawing near this is sure to make for an action packed event full of high quality match minutes,” FQ General Manager – Football and State Technical Director Gabor Ganczer said.
“The FQ Academy State Championships form part of the second stage of this statewide talent ID process, with state teams to be selected from the Under 15 and Under 16 Boys and Under 14 and Under 16 Girls based on their performance both at this event and at our final regional carnival in August.
“The Under 13 and Under 14 Boys who are attending but not yet eligible for national competitions will compete for the regional and metro State Champion titles, keeping excitement and incentive high across all matches played.
“After the success of the FQ Academy State Carnival held earlier this year at South Pine Sports Complex, we’d like to again thank Moreton Bay Regional Council for their ongoing support of our Football Queensland events in the region.”
