Following the recent announcement of the National Para Football Championship to be held in Perth from Tuesday, 3 October to Sunday, 8 October, state team trials are set to begin for Football Queensland’s first featured female team as well as a male team.
To be eligible to register for either the male or female state team trials, participants must be 12 years or over with Cerebral Palsy, or an acquired brain injury and symptoms acquired from stroke.
Led by Head Coach Mark Delaney, the final team selected will go head-to-head against sides from around Australia with plans to impress the CommBank ParaMatildas and CommBank Pararoos coaches prior to their selection of the Australian squads for the Men’s and Women’s 2023 IFCPF Para Asian Cup.
“We are delighted to announce the selection sessions for the National Para Football Championships, which includes trials for the first ever female team; there will be four trial sessions held at 2pm every Sunday in July for players to attend and compete for a spot on the 2023 Queensland Squad,” Football Queensland CEO Robert Cavallucci said.
“This is an excellent example of how the sport is growing, increasing awareness of disability specific football formats and providing high quality match minutes and opportunities for every member of the football community.”
