Football Queensland is proud to announce it will bring a highly anticipated Kappa Pro Series match between NPL Men rivals Brisbane City and Brisbane Roar to Bundaberg, with the Round 1 clash to be held at Martens Oval on Saturday, 1 February 2025.
This exciting match marks the inaugural Kappa Pro Series fixture to be played outside of South East Queensland (SEQ). The competition, which brings together the best NPL and FQPL 1 teams from SEQ, is set to deliver a high-quality football match to the Wide Bay region, offering local fans the chance to experience top-tier action.
“We are thrilled to bring the Kappa Pro Series to Bundaberg in 2025 for the first time ever, providing local fans and local football lovers with the chance to experience high-quality football from some of the state’s most talented players in their own backyard,” FQ CEO Robert Cavallucci said.
“As part of Football Queensland’s commitment to investing in regional football, this event highlights the growing involvement of regional communities in statewide competitions like the Kappa Queensland Cup and Mitre FQPL Champions League, bringing more top-level football and unforgettable experiences to more regions.
“In addition to the match, local clubs and football fans will have the chance to engage directly with both Brisbane City FC and Brisbane Roar’s NPL sides through a series of community-focused initiatives, including free junior clinics, mascot appearances, half-time activations, and coach education sessions.
“This event not only showcases the talents of both teams but also provides a platform for local clubs, coaches and participants to connect with the sport in a meaningful way, as we aim to inspire the next generation of football players and foster a deeper connection with the game.
“Football Queensland thanks The Waves Sports Club for their support in bringing this historic celebration of football to Bundaberg, and we encourage the local community to come out and support this fantastic occasion, making it a day to remember for players, coaches, and fans alike.”
