Football Queensland has opened expressions of interest for 9 to 13 year old boys and girls to join the FQ Academy in the Darling Downs region.
The FQ Academy is a part-time program for players and is designed to support club-based player development programs by offering players access to additional, high-level training and player support environments across a season.
The FQ Academy delivers a more consistent and visible pathway for aspirational footballers which is quality-controlled and accredited by Football Australia. The program aligns the Queensland player pathway with the national development and Talent ID system, linking junior players to the Matildas and Socceroos.
The FQ Academy Darling Downs Hubs is a pilot program designed to give our players from rural areas an opportunity to access a starting point to the advanced pathway. They will be training in centralised hubs and playing in a tournament format once per term in Toowoomba against some of the best teams in our zone, with the possibility of being asked to attend state tournaments throughout the year.
The FQ Academy Darling Downs will be split into two Hubs; Northern (Chinchilla, Dalby, Roma, Kingaroy, St George, Nanango, Barambah) and Southern (Stanthorpe, Warwick, Goondiwindi, Tenterfield, Ballanden).
The total cost of the program is $250 per participant. This includes a playing kit to keep, a minimum of 18 contacts with a C Licensed coach and assistant coach, plus a goalkeeping coach at least twice per term.
The Northern Hub will commence on 30/4/2023 and the Southern Hub will commence on 7/5/2023.
