fq welcome
Football Queensland acknowledges the First Australian peoples from the area of current day Cairns and the Far North of Queensland. We pay respect to their elders and recognise the contributions made to the game of football by many of the indigenous family.
For the first time we welcome teams from the Burdekin and Innisfail to the event.
In recent weeks we have seen a number of our youth players from the FQ Academy representing Queensland at National Youth Championships. It is the longer-term vision for the players we will see this weekend to also progress to that level of representation.
This weekend’s event is a Football Queensland Academy event and, as such, it operates with a specific code of coach and spectator behaviours. We ask parents and spectators to please remember that you are not coaches, so provide support and encouragement, rather than direction on what to do and when to do it. We need to see the players making their own decisions based on the information provided to them by their coaches.
Coaches, we ask that you provide the players will tasks and challenges related to their skill development along with a simple team task for each match. Focus on these, not all the individual actions that occur during the match.
We wish everyone a fabulous weekend.
