North Queensland’s oldest football tournament, the Filippo Mele Carnival will take place on the Queen’s Birthday long weekend from Saturday, 1 October to Monday, 3 October 2022 at 1300SMILES Active Park in Townsville.
2022 marks the 37th year of the carnivals existence with teams from across Northern Queensland set to make the trip to Townsville for the three day tournament.
Named in the honour of local football legend Filippo Mele, the carnival has grown in participation each year and has become an important part in providing additional development opportunities at an inter-regional level for players in the North Queensland.
This year’s tournament allows clubs to enter the competition by nominating teams, while individual players registered with Football Queensland are also able to join a team if they are holidaying in North Queensland.

Under 8/9 – $100 team entry fee
Under 10 – $120 team entry fee
Under 11 – $120 team entry fee
Under 12 – $120 team entry fee
Under 13 – $120 team entry fee
Girls
Under 8/9 girls – $100 team entry fee
Under 10/11 girls – $120 team entry fee
Under 12-14 girls – $120 team entry fee
Players who are already registered in Play Football will not have to pay an insurance fee to participate in the carnival. Any player who has not registered to Play Football must pay an insurance fee of $15.
