These awards acknowledge the valuable contributions of individuals, teams and clubs across the game within their respective region and form a key part of the Football in Queensland Awards.
Award winners recognised at regional level in the community categories will go on to represent their region as nominees for the equivalent awards at state level, to be presented at the Football in Queensland Awards Night on Saturday, 28 October 2023.

Community
Coach of the Year – Male
The regional Community Coach of the Year (Male) will be an individual who has made a significant contribution to the success of a team that they have coached or been the major cause of an increased standard of coaching in football. Nominees’ achievements must have been of such a standard of excellence and achieved in such an arena of sufficiently competitive games/tournaments to warrant them receiving this award.
Coach of the Year – Female
The regional Community Coach of the Year (Female) will be an individual who has made a significant contribution to the success of a team that they have coached or been the major cause of an increased standard of coaching in football. Nominees’ achievements must have been of such a standard of excellence and achieved in such an arena of sufficiently competitive games/tournaments to warrant them receiving this award.
Community Junior Team of the Year
The regional Community Junior Team of the Year will be a team under 18 years of age that has attained a level of excellence greater than that achieved by other teams and whose performance has been so exceptional that their achievements have identified them as being clearly outstanding from their peers.
Community Senior Team of the Year
The regional Community Senior Team of the Year will be a team over 18 years of age that has attained a level of excellence greater than that achieved by other teams and whose performance has been so exceptional that their achievements have identified them as being clearly outstanding from their peers.
Community Club of the Year
The regional Community Club of the Year will be awarded to the club that delivers an exceptional service and experience to its members. It will demonstrate strong governance and administration, provide a quality environment via accredited coaches, skilled volunteers and sound facility management and development. The club may also have excelled in a specific area such as the delivery of targeted programs, i.e. multicultural programs, Indigenous, all abilities, women and girls, and/or has delivered a special initiative or project.
Service to Football
Volunteer of the Year
The regional Volunteer of the Year award winner will be an individual who contributes to football in Queensland voluntarily. The recipient of this award may be an administrator, coach, official etc., as long as they receive no remuneration (apart from reimbursements for expenses incurred) in respect of their duties. This award applies to the achievements over the one year period with a number of years’ service not considered in the judging of this category. Individuals who contribute over a number of years should be nominated for the Service to Football award category. NPL Men’s/NPL Women’s/FQPL club volunteers are eligible for this category.
Protect Our Game Service Award (Individual)
The regional Protect Our Game Service (Individual) award winner will be an individual who has embraced the Protect Our Game initiative and gone above and beyond their role (as a parent, coach, volunteer or club official) to promote a positive footballing environment.
Protect Our Game Service Award (Club)
The regional Protect Our Game Service (Club) award winner will be a club who has embraced, implemented, and demonstrated a commitment to protecting our game and ensuring all members provide and promote a positive footballing environment. Clubs who have received a Strike during the past 12 months are not eligible for this award.
Service to Football Gold Award
The regional Service to Football Gold award winner will be an individual who has contributed the most to the sport for a minimum of 10 years. The recipient may be an employed administrator, volunteer, player, referee, coach or anyone as a result of whose contributions and standard of excellence achieved in an area surpasses others and therefore distinguishes the nominee from their peers.
Service to Football Platinum Award
The regional Service to Football Platinum award winner will be an individual who has contributed the most to the sport for a minimum of 20 years. The recipient may be an employed administrator, volunteer, player, referee, coach or anyone as a result of whose contributions and standard of excellence achieved in an area surpasses others and therefore distinguishes the nominee from their peers.

FQPL Men’s & Women’s Player of the Year
Players who accumulate the most votes from Head Coaches collected towards the conclusion of the season in conjunction with a disciplinary record review.
FQPL Men’s & Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year
Goalkeepers who accumulate the most votes from Head Coaches collected towards the conclusion of the season in conjunction with a disciplinary record review.
FQPL Men’s & Women’s Golden Boot
Players who score the most points during the regular season as recorded by FQ Teamsheets.
FQPL Men’s & Women’s Team of the Season
Players who accumulate the most votes from Head Coaches collected towards the conclusion of the season in conjunction with a disciplinary record review.
FQPL Men’s & Women’s Coach of the Year
Coaches who accumulate the most votes from Head Coaches collected towards the conclusion of the season in conjunction with a disciplinary record review.
Referees
In Support of Young Referees (Mentor)
A referee mentor or instructor who has provided a high level of support and guidance to local referees to assist in their development. The contributions and the standard of excellence achieved in this area by the mentor or instructor surpasses others and therefore distinguishes the nominee from their peers.
Assistant Referee of the Year
A referee who has attained a level of excellence as an assistance referee within any competition and whose performance sets them apart from their peers.
Junior Referee of the Year
An under 18 aged referee who has attained a level of excellence in the field of refereeing within junior matches and whose performance sets them apart from their peers.
Senior Referee of the Year
An over 18 aged referee who has attained a level of excellence in the field of refereeing within junior matches and whose performance sets them apart from their peers.
Community Referee of the Year
A referee who has attained a level of excellence in the field of refereeing in competitions below FQPL 3 (or equivalent) and whose performance sets them apart from their peers.
