Future Club +
Football Queensland is proud to launch Future Club+, a ground-breaking initiative designed to strengthen the foundations of football clubs across the state.
Developed by FQ in collaboration with CPR Group, Future Club+ is focused on enhancing the quality and efficiency of club administration and governance. By equipping clubs with the tools, insights, and strategies they need, we’re helping reduce the administrative burden on volunteers so they can focus on what matters most, delivering a better football experience for their communities.
Future Club+ builds on the momentum from the inaugural Queensland Football Convention, where vital conversations began around the challenges facing our clubs. Now, through interactive club lab sessions and ongoing consultation, we’re continuing those discussions and driving practical change.
Club committee members are invited to join us for the final Club Lab Session, which will be held online on Tuesday, 15 July at 7pm.
Congratulations to FQ Head of Advanced Referees and proud Queenslander Alex King on being crowned the 2025/26 Isuzu UTE A-Leagues Referee of the Year 👏
Capping off a standout season, Alex has also been appointed to referee this Saturday`s A-League Grand Final for a third time, further cementing his place among Australia’s elite officials.
Alex`s appointment to the Grand Final continues a proud legacy for our state`s match officials on the national stage, with 13 of the last 14 A-League Men`s Grand Finals officiated by a Queenslander.

The new weekly referee appointments process reflects a coordinated approach between Football Queensland, referees and clubs ⚽
FQ start with their allocations, followed by referee self-appointments and conclude with club-managed appointments, each stage contributing to a clear and efficient system leading into match day.
By combining structured processes with strong collaboration, this model supports a more transparent and effective referee pathway across the state.
