What is the program?
The Multicultural Settlement Program (MSP) aims to foster relationships between clubs, schools and local communities to engage and provide playing opportunities for newly-arrived children.
It is a FREE, 4 to 6 week MiniRoos program for boys and girls aged 4 to 11 who have arrived in Australia within the past 5 years.
Sessions will run weekly with qualified coaches teaching participants key football skills through fun exercises and games in an inclusive environment.
All participants will receive a free participant pack including a ball, shin pads, boot bag and water bottle upon completion of the program.
Who can deliver the program?
To successfully deliver the MSP, clubs must meet the following criteria:
- Clubs must have an existing juniors program that participants can join after the end of the 4 to 6 week program.
- Clubs must have at least one coach who will deliver the session at their club.
- Clubs must deliver the program in a safe and inclusive environment with a focus on integrating the participants into the club and the community.
- All club applications must be approved before the program can commence.
When can clubs deliver the program?
The Multicultural Settlement Program is run in conjunction with the school term calendar across Terms 1 and 2. Clubs can choose a date and time that suits them to host the 4 to 6 week program during Term 1 and Term 2 of the school calendar, with six sessions held in each term. Clubs can deliver more than one program if they wish.
Assistance for clubs
Clubs that are approved to administer the program will be provided with a delivery kit including balls, bibs, cones and two goals.
Coach education will also be provided to coaches that don’t have a MiniRoos Certificate qualification, as this is required by all coaches delivering the program.
