Melbourne City have confirmed Caltex Socceroos superstar Tim Cahill as part of their squad for Wednesday night’s Westfield FFA Cup blockbuster against Brisbane Strikers.
Cahill is in line to debut for his new club at Perry Park after City coach John van’t Schip confirmed his likely involvement.
City’s star-studded squad, which features the likes of Hyundai A-League golden boot winner Bruno Fornaroli, Ipswich junior Neil Kilkenny and former Brisbane Roar midfielder Luke Brattan, jetted out for Brisbane on Tuesday afternoon.

Former Strikers fullback Josh Rose is also in the frame for his first City appearance at the scene of his professional debut.
It’s that kind of production line which is inspiring Strikers’ modern-day stars to make their own mark in the Round of 16 showpiece.
“The club always remind us who we are playing for and what the club has achieved. It’s one of the most prestigious clubs in Queensland,” Strikers midfielder Jake McLean told nplqld.com.au.
“We go out there with pride in what the club has done but we want to create our own history too.
“If we keep going in the FFA Cup, if we can beat Melbourne City, then maybe we will be the ones the fans are talking about in 20 years.”
