How to Register for a Coaching Course
1. Register in Squadi
To attend a coaching course, you are first required to register as a coach in Squadi for this season. Click here to register via the Squadi desktop or alternatively you can register via the Squadi app.
2. Create an account or log in to Football Australia's Play Football system
Once you have registered in Squadi, you will need to have a Play Football account to access the etrainu platform and register for a course. If you are a returning participant and already have an account, proceed to step 3.
If you are new to football and don’t have a ‘Play Football’ account yet, click here to create an account.
3. Choose a coaching course
Once you have completed your registration, you will receive a confirmation email to access your Play Football account. You may have to wait up to 24 hours to receive the confirmation email from Football Australia.
Once confirmed, find a course from the options below and click ‘Register’.
4. Confirm your course registration
This will take you to a Football Australia log in page where you will select ‘If you are a learner, click here’ to access the etrainu platform. Use your Play Football login details to proceed.
Once logged in, register for your selected coaching course via the etrainu platform.
Types of Coaching Courses
MiniRoos Certificate
This free course is fully practical and encourages the coach to develop practices that are based on fun. The emphasis is on natural development i.e. learning by playing football. This course is designed for coaches working with players from 5-9 years old in the discovery phase.
Duration – 180 mins minimum (120 mins practical in person and 60 mins online self-paced).
Cost: Free
Foundation of Football
This course focuses on the delivery of practical sessions covering the fundamentals of techniques as well as learning about basic playing principles of the game. Aimed at volunteer parents and coaches working with advanced beginner to competent level players or players aged up to 15 years old. This course is a prerequisite for the C Diploma.
Duration – 12 hours minimum (9 hours practical in person and 3 hours online self-paced).

C Diploma
The Football Australia ‘C’ Diploma is the first step on the Football Australia advanced pathway that is designed to help you become a better coach.
The focus of the required coaching competency on the ‘C’ Diploma is on the technical aspects of the game, which includes teaching the techniques of passing, receiving, striking the ball and running with the ball, along with defending techniques to regain possession.
The required technical knowledge will be supported with an understanding of The Principles of Play and the fundamentals of coaching. Participants will be introduced to the concept of teaching behaviour in different types of practice methods as part of the education program, but also to provide insight into the ‘B’ Diploma.
Please note a coach must have a valid Foundation of Football Certificate to enroll in the C diploma. As long as you have enrolled in the course and will complete it prior to the first day of the C diploma this will also allow you to register.

Duration – 48 hours minimum (32 hours practical in person and 16 hours online self-paced).

B Diploma
This course focuses on the 11 v 11 aspects of the game where candidates will be able to analyse football and apply the Football Australia Vision and Philosophy in the Game Training Model.
It is the second step to become a professional coach and is for coaches who hold the Football Australia ‘C’ Diploma or approved overseas equivalent.
If you are interested in attending a ‘B’ Diploma in 2024, please express your interest by completing the follow Expression of Interest – Football Australia B Diploma EOI
Duration – 120 hours minimum (84 hours of in person and online presentations and 36 hours of coursework to be completed and presented at the end of the course).

A Diploma
This course sets out to educate candidates focusing on the 11 v 11 aspects of the game to apply the National Curriculum holistically to develop Semi Professional, State, and Institute/Academy and National Youth League teams.
It is the third step to become a professional coach and It is for coaches holding an accredited Football Australia/AFC ‘B’ Diploma or recognised equivalent qualification.

AFC ‘A’ Diploma
Duration – 180 hours minimum (100 hours of in person and online presentations and 80 hours of coursework during the season).
Cost: $ 4,800
AFC Pro Diploma
Duration – 360 hours minimum (180 practical and 180 online self-paced).
Cost: $12,000
Goalkeeping Courses
Community
The 8-hour course is player focused and provides coaches with the knowledge to deliver goalkeeper training sessions that follow four key principles; Safe, Well organised, Enjoyable and Reflected. Upon completion of the course coaches will be able to deliver sessions for goalkeepers from junior to senior amateur level.
Advanced
The Level 1, 2 and 3 courses sets out to educate candidates to apply the National Curriculum holistically to develop State League, NYL, State Representative teams and Academy Goalkeeper coaches. All Goalkeeping License tasks and information are sent to candidates on a course-by-course basis once accepted.
Foundation of Goalkeeping Certificate
Duration – 12 hours minimum (9 hours practical in person and 3 hours online self-paced).
Cost: $100
AFC Goalkeeping ‘B’ Diploma
Duration – 60 hours minimum (40 hours in person and 20 hours online presentations).
Cost: $1,760
AFC Goalkeeping ‘A’ Diploma
Duration – 120 hours minimum (84 hours in person and 36 hours online presentations).
Cost: $2,530
Futsal Courses
Futsal Coaching Certificate
The Certificate is a one-day course focuses on coaches working with junior players up to the age of 13 or players new to the game. It covers the fundamentals of Futsal in a practical format allowing participants to experience the game at a basic level.
Futsal Coaching Licence
The Licence is a one and a half day course for coaches working with players above the age of 13, covering aspects of attacking, defensive and transitional play in greater detail.

How to Register
Football Australia has moved towards a new Learning Platform for all coaching course registrations, and this will be the home of online learning for your coach education moving forward.
Please see below a process to begin to access the learning platform.
To attend a coaching course, you are first required to register as a coach in Squadi.

Coaching Course FAQ's
Q: What topics do the courses include?
A: Football Australia and Football Queensland provide a variety of courses available for both referees and coaches, spanning from laws of the game through to coaching diploma courses.
Q: How do I purchase a course?
A: The Football Australia Learning Centre has an easy-to-navigate payment process. Simply find the course you’re looking to complete, click purchase, fill in your payment details and complete the transaction. You will automatically be emailed your receipt for safekeeping.
Payment is required at the time of enrolment in an online or face-to-face course.
These courses are available through interactive online learning or face-to-face sessions.
Q: How long will the course take?
A: The course duration differs for each course.
We have provided an estimate of how long most learners take to complete the course, however, you should take your time to ensure you understand the information thoroughly.
Q: Do I have to do the online components of a course in one sitting?
A: No. You can exit your course at any time and resume the course the next time you log in. Ensure you click exit within the course (not directly from your browser) to ensure the progress has been saved.
Q: I hold a Skill Training / Game Training / Senior Certificate. Is this recognised as the Foundation of Football?
A: Yes, any of the three community courses are considered equivalent to the Foundation of Football, which allows you to progress on your journey and enrol in the ‘C’ Diploma. The previous qualification gets automatically converted into the Foundation of Football Certificate and should appear on your profile on the Football Australia Learning Centre.
Q: Do I need to hold a Foundation of Football Certificate to enrol in a ‘C’ Diploma?
A: Yes, the Foundation of Football is now a prerequisite to enrol in the ‘C’ Diploma.
Q: I have just attended the Foundation of Football course. Can I complete the ‘C’ Diploma now?
A: Yes, as long as all the online modules on the Football Australia Learning Centre are completed.
Q: Will goalkeeper coaches need to complete an outfield Foundation of Football course to undertake the ‘C’ Diploma if they have already completed a Foundation of Goalkeeping?
A: Yes, to receive the ‘C’ Diploma, coaches must hold the equivalent Foundation of Football Certificate. The three courses (Foundation of Football, Foundation of Goalkeeping and Foundation of Futsal) are not interchangeable and are valid only on the specified pathway.

Coaching Qualifications Certificate
Please access the Football Australia Learning Centre to check your current qualifications status.
On your learner profile under Skills Passport, you will be able to access your current qualifications and your qualification history and download a copy of your certificates.
Attendance Requirements
All coaches registering for these courses must be available to attend and complete every module of the course. The 100% attendance is a requirement of AFC/Football Australia. Coaches should not register unless they are committed to attending every day of the course.
Payment and Invoicing
Payment is due at the time of registration to confirm your place in the course. If a Club wishes to support Coaches‘ registration fees, the Club will be required to complete the process online through the course link for each Coach they wish to register. An invoice related to your course fee payment will be automatically sent via email as the online registration will be completed.
Refunds Policy
If you register and pay for an advanced course (C or B Diploma) and for any reason you cannot attend and wish for a refund, you must advise our office no later than 30 calendar days before the course date.
If you are unable to attend within the one-month window, we will refund your fees less 10%. Please note we will not defer you to the next course.
If you are registering for an ‘A’ Diploma, please be informed that these courses are entirely managed by Football Australia.

CPD Hours
As mandated in the AFC Coaching Convention, from 1st January 2019 all Football Australia Advanced Coaching Licences are valid (accredited) for three consecutive years. New licenses will be issued for three years, and existing licenses will be revalidated for three years when re-validation is due.
