the Club assessment process
The FQ Club Development Unit’s extensive Club Assessment process observes, measures and assesses over 1,500 data points across 75 different criteria for each of the FQ Academy clubs.
Benchmarked and built around global best practice, the comprehensive evaluation of each club’s technical environment and junior development programs allows FQ to track and analyse annual progress, build supporting resources and services, and incrementally lift the standard of technical outcomes across each club.
Each FQ Academy club is provided an FQ Club Assessment score which reflects the culmination of a season long process and is rated Gold, Silver, Bronze or Development Committed, determined when a club assessment score hits a minimum threshold score.
FQ Academy Club Shield Ratings
The FQ Club Shield system is an initiative designed to improve club accountability, transparency and visibility for participants and parents while giving clubs a meaningful platform to celebrate success and growth in their technical development standards.
The Gold, Silver and Bronze star representations are based on a number of factors including extensive technical assessments undertaken by FQ’s Club Development Unit.
The evolving index below presents all existing FQ Club Shields, and will continually be updated as clubs build capacity, improve technical development standards and attain higher ratings with FQ’s support.

Moreton City snatch it late to control their destiny💛⚡
Down 3–1 and staring down defeat, @moretoncityexcelsiorfc refused to quit, showing that never-give-up Queensland mentality right to the final whistle. A 96th-minute equaliser from a corner sealed a dramatic 3–3 draw and kept MCE in pole position to qualify for the Australian Championships knockouts, with one group game to go this Friday at Perry Park.

The FQ Club Value Index, in place for the last 5 years and linked to the FQ Academy club assessment process, provides valuable insights into the overall value delivered by FQ Academy club programs when their club registration fees are modelled alongside the technical and development outcomes delivered by the club ⚽
The index offers a unique assessment of how clubs across, and within, each Shield group are managing variability in their cost bases while delivering the various technical elements associated with their ambitions and positioning, and how that translates into program fees.
Built from the same data set as the Club Rank Score, the Club Value Index uses each club’s assessment score (not club rank score) as the basis for its determination. FQ Academy fees are analysed for both boys and girls programs, mapping average, highest and lowest fees across all participating clubs.
The algorithm applies a weighted score across Shields to recognise the investment differential between Gold, Silver and Bronze programs resulting in a score ranking each club in ascending order, revealing clubs who have invested across both girls and boys demonstrate significant value outcomes.
Football Queensland acknowledges that no two clubs are the same, with factors such as varying input costs impacted by local government areas, constrained green space that may limit expansion, and deliberate pricing and positioning strategies all influencing program fees. Despite this, there is a strong level of harmonisation across the data set variables, highlighting how clubs continue to successfully balance input cost variability while delivering quality development environments across Queensland.
