Football Queensland has received notification from Peninsula Power indicating the club’s withdrawal of their application for a National Premier Leagues Women’s Queensland licence.
The club has informed FQ that player numbers in pre-season trials have been too low to guarantee competitive teams in the 2018 season.
Hopeful female NPL players in the Redcliffe area have several other potential clubs to play for, including the nearby Moreton Bay United.
This withdrawal affects only the NPLW application, meaning the club’s Men and Junior Boys will be issued with a licence to compete in the Football Queensland Premier League in 2018, subject to meeting the required criteria.
Power will continue to remain focused on Women and Girls football at a community level and will continue to implement coaching and development of female players for the future.
Clubs across the state are preparing for the 2018 season and the launch of Queensland’s expanded competition structure.
FQ will keep members informed of any further changes to the list of teams competing in NPL, NPLW and FQPL.
