Roar continue late season surge
Brisbane Roar NTC have continued their late season surge, defeating Lions FC 4-1 at Lions Stadium on Sunday afternoon to progress to the NPLW Queensland Grand Final.
The Roar side were ahead by three goals within 30 minutes, before Lions hit back with a goal before the break but couldn’t catch up to the visitors’ lead.
The first goal of the game came in the 23rd minute through a solid Hollie Palmer free-kick which proved too powerful for Lions goalkeeper Ellen Hepburn.
BRFC/NTC’s second came just four minutes later, with Indiah-Paige Riley getting herself into a great position to score from close range off a well-placed cross.
The visitors further extended their lead minutes later when Riley put a good ball through for Anna Margraf, who struck the ball over the head of Lions ‘keeper Hepburn.
Lions finally found the net in the 38th minute following a corner, with Jessica Hogg striking a long ball off her left foot.
The Roar side weren’t done scoring and a great long-range strike from Leah Davidson put the game to bed in the 79th minute.
