Football competitions at all levels of the game will kick off across the Sunshine Coast this weekend as the 2022 season commences.
The commencement of the season follows the previous postponement of fixtures due to the impacts of the state’s recent flood event.
“Football Queensland is delighted to get our competitions underway this weekend following the disruption to the season due to flooding across South East Queensland,” FQ General Manager – Central Coast Region Andy Allan said.
“Competitions from Juniors to the FQPL Men’s and Women’s, across the region will kick off from tomorrow night.
“We’d like to thank all Sunshine Coast clubs for their cooperation and patience in recent weeks as we’ve worked together to facilitate the commencement of the season despite the challenges of the recent flooding event.”
“We’re excited to see our Sunshine Coast teams back in action from this weekend, and know that our participants have been eagerly awaiting the start of the season for a number of weeks now,” FQ Manager – Sunshine Coast Jordie Gerbes said.
“This weekend will also see the new Sunshine Coast Cup competition kick off for FQPL Men’s and Women’s teams whose fixtures were previously postponed due to flooding across South East Queensland.
“On behalf of Football Queensland, best of luck to all participants this weekend and we look forward to seeing you around the grounds throughout the season.”
