Football Queensland has confirmed the clubs that will participate in the inaugural FQ Academy Futsal Leagues, forming the top tier of junior futsal in Queensland.
With the ongoing implementation of the FQ Futsal Strategy, the launch of the FQ Academy Futsal Leagues (formerly known as the SEQ Futsal Premier League) accompanies the introduction of the new FQ Junior Futsal Premier League as part of the connected futsal pyramid.
“South East Queensland’s best young players will go head-to-head as part of the FQ Academy Futsal Leagues, with teams from across the Metro, South Coast and Sunshine Coast regions set to feature,” FQ Manager – Futsal Vince Sciacca said.
“We’re excited to see the top tier of junior futsal in the state get underway in the form of the FQ Academy Futsal Leagues and are focused on continuing to strengthen futsal pathways for improved player outcomes through the implementation of the FQ Futsal Strategy.
“Fostering the growth and development of clubs across the state is another priority for Football Queensland as we work to deliver regionally centred competitions for both juniors and seniors to provide all Queenslanders with access to opportunities and pathways within futsal.”
Junior age groups in the FQ Academy Futsal Leagues will play 14 rounds, while Seniors (U16 Boys, Youth Men, U17 Girls and Youth Women) will play 7 rounds culminating in Finals on Saturday, 9 December.
Eight clubs will participate in each competition, including each of the F-League clubs who are represented across a number of age groups in addition to the remaining clubs who have been successful in their application to join the league based on a pre-determined criteria.
The FQ Junior Futsal League meanwhile will feature Under 8 to Under 14 age groups. For further information on this second tier competition, contact FQ via futsal@footballqueensland.com.au
