Football Queensland has confirmed the leagues and age groups for MiniRoos, Junior and Senior competitions for the 2024 season in the Wide Bay region.
FQ General Manager – Central Coast Region, Jordie Gerbes said Football Queensland will continue to deliver a variety of playing formats and structures in 2024, ensuring football remains accessible to the broader community.
“Following the success of the Girls United program in the Wide Bay region, the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™ and the CommBank Matildas who are continuing to inspire a new generation of players across both social and competitive formats of the game, Football Queensland is pleased to deliver additional playing opportunities for women and girls during the 2024 regular season,” Gerbes said.
“These include an increase in female MiniRoos and junior competitive age groups and additional Women’s community competitive divisions for 2024 as we continue working towards 50/50 gender parity in participation by 2027.
“On behalf of Football Queensland, I’d like to thank our Wide Bay clubs for their consultation and feedback throughout the season.
“We look forward to offering more leagues and playing opportunities each year as the growth of the game continues across the region.”
