Referees from every part of the state will gather this Saturday, 20 January, for the 2024 State Referee Conference.
This year the hybrid delivery format returns as referees are invited to attend the in-person event at Waterford Place, St. Joseph’s College, Gregory Terrace (map below) or can opt to access the sessions via the online live stream from one of 10 regional hubs.
Accompanying the first day conference sessions open to all referees, a second day on Sunday, 21 January, will feature in-depth practical exploration of referee concepts for NPL Queensland, FQPL and FQ Referee Academy match officials.
After acknowledging the achievements of the 2023 season, the 2024 State Referee Conference will feature four main sessions along with an update on Football Queensland’s Referee Strategic Plan from Andy Allan, General Manager – Strategic Game Development & Referees.
Australian Sports Commission’s Senior Advisor Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Erin Hatton will then follow with a session on Bystander Training and a Football Australia Referee Department & Laws of the Game update, featuring Football Australia’s Jacqui Hurford, General Manager of Community Refereeing.
Football Queensland will also provide a Disciplinary and Integrity update alongside a tailored session from the FQ Referee Department, before the conference concludes with a session on Matchday Coaches.
