Football Queensland is excited to announce the appointment of Jack Southwell as the new Club Development Ambassador – Far North & Gulf (Cairns).
With substantial experience in coaching, player and coach development, and performance analysis in the United Kingdom as well as a former national team talent ID scout and award-winning coach with Manchester United Foundation and Wrexham AFC Community Trust, Southwell is well equipped to make a difference to clubs across the region.
“The role ties everything I am passionate about into one. I am very motivated to work from within the community and build lasting relationships with the clubs, the players and the coaches,” Southwell said.
“There is some brilliant football and high ability players within the area, and I’m really looking forward to being a part of their development and journey.”
Southwell said his long-term goal is to increase community participation, and to ensure club structures in the region are well supported by mentoring club leaders and helping them identify key talent for positions to strengthen their development pathways.
“I want to make sure the clubs are healthy, strong and growing, because strong clubs within the region leads to strong football,” he said.
“The next key focus would be developing, mentoring and upskilling the coaches to help improve the standard of football in the area.
“The development of the coaches means better players and a more competitive league standard at a higher level.”
FQ General Manager – Football & State Technical Director Gabor Ganczer said Southwell’s appointment would be a huge boost for clubs in the Far North & Gulf region.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Jack to the team and are confident that his extensive knowledge and experience will help him bring a valuable perspective into the region as he works closely with Far North & Gulf clubs.”
