Football Queensland (FQ) is delighted to confirm the details of the upcoming Talent Support Program (TSP) Boys State Carnival which will be held at Logan Football Complex from next Monday, 21 September to Wednesday, 23 September.
The carnival will be the biggest regional junior football event of the year in Australia, and will see teams from Far North Queensland, North Queensland, Central Queensland, Mackay and South East Queensland play alongside Brisbane Roar Academy sides in a round-robin format.
“We are excited to welcome some of the state’s most talented young players for our TSP Boys State Carnival at Logan Football Complex next week,” State Technical Director Gabor Ganczer said.
“The TSP Boys State Carnival will be the meeting place for all the TSP centres across Queensland to compete over a three-day period and will also serve as a Talent ID event.
“The TSP Boys State Carnival provides an excellent opportunity for both regional and metro players to showcase their talent against their peers from other parts of the state and against Brisbane Roar Academy sides, with Metro TSP coaching staff, Football Queensland’s Technical department and Brisbane Roar Academy Coaches in attendance across the three days.
“All games will also be recorded and uploaded to the online video platform HUDL to allow for talent identification by FFA Junior National Team coaching staff. As well as participating on-field, regional teams will also have the opportunity to complete workshops with QAS Sports Psychologist Rachel Jones between their games on Tuesday, 22 September.”
“We are delighted to welcome all of our state TSP programs and the Brisbane Roar Academy to our first TSP state carnival of the year,” FQ Lead Club Development Ambassador – Talent Tom Laxton said.
“We are looking forward to watching the players perform to the best of their ability over the three-day carnival. To host such a big event after the mid-season break we had is so pleasing to see, and a reflection of the hard work undertaken throughout the state to keep football going.
“I am personally looking forward to seeing some of the players who we have already seen in regional areas against their metro counterparts.
We wish everyone a healthy carnival and safe travels until we meet again on the Gold Coast in November.”
A host of COVID Safe measures will be in place for the event, including QR code attendance tracking, non-contact temperature checks, hand sanitisation stations and frequent sanitisation of equipment.
The regional teams in attendance will also be placed in an ‘athlete bubble’ in South East Queensland for the duration of their stay.
