Football Queensland (FQ) has today confirmed the NPL Academy and NPL Development club classifications for the Competition Phase of the 2021 NPL Junior Boys season.
The Competition Phase begins in early March and precedes the Tournament Phase, which constitutes the second stage of the season.
“The 2021 structure simplifies competition delivery while strengthening technical development outcomes through an increase in match minutes and greater volume of like-v-like and best-v-best games for all participants,” FQ CEO Robert Cavallucci said.
“The classification of clubs in either the NPL Academy group or the NPL Development group is the direct outcome of a ‘Club Rank’ score, based on an algorithm that considers a holistic assessment of each club’s junior development pathways as assessed by FQ’s Club Development Unit.
“This information has guided the NPL Academy and NPL Development classifications to ensure all teams are competing at an appropriate level, which feeds the positive participation experiences FQ is constantly striving to provide for players.”
The ratings produced following the assessment process are represented on each applicable club’s FQ Club Shield, which can all now be viewed on the new Club Shield page – an evolving digital index housed on FQ’s website.
FQ State Technical Director Gabor Ganczer said the Club Development Unit carefully measured planning, delivery and development outcomes to produce each club’s Youth Academy Assessment Score.
“The assessment process began in September and has included several stages and opportunities for clubs to request feedback and additional reviews,” Ganczer said.
“Each club will be very well supported in 2021. We are confident they will be running strong programs built on good development principles.”
