Brisbane Roar have announced BRFC/QAS National Training Centre mentor Mel Andreatta as the club’s new Westfield W-League head coach.
The former Roar assistant, who recently formed part of the Westfield Matildas’ staff at the Rio Olympics, will lead the two-time champions in the ninth edition of the competition and says she is excited by the opportunity.
“The chance to lead a team with so much history in a club that is so much a part of the Brisbane community is an exciting opportunity,” Andreatta said.
“I’m really looking forward over the coming weeks for us to work hard together and prepare for a successful season.”

Andreatta played for Northern NSW Pride in the old Women’s National Soccer League before building her reputation as a leading development coach in Queensland.
The former Mini Matildas assistant coach guided some of the state’s finest young talents to an encouraging performance at the National Training Centre Challenge earlier this year.
Andreatta will now work closely with Roar’s Hyundai A-League head coach John Aloisi to continue the club’s tradition of successful, exciting, attacking football.
“In a club that has so much history and success, there’s an expectation to succeed but it’s also about the way you do that,” Andreatta said.
“We’re already preparing and building for that opening game both on and off the field to ensure we have a strong start to the season.
“I’m looking forward to seeing where our expectations, commitment and dedication are going to take us this season.”
