With the conclusion of the 2022 regular season fast approaching each round continues to provide its own surprises along the way. Here is a brief preview of what we can expect heading into this weekend.
Men’s
UQFC have clawed out of the relegation zone and face another important fixture away to Centenary Stormers this weekend. A win could see them overtake their hosts and move even closer to safety this season. League leaders St. George Willawong will look to continue their pace at the top when they take on Western Spirit at Kippen Park. The home side are in desperate need of a victory as they sit within the relegation zone. In form Newmarket will be hoping to continue their charge when they take on The Gap away from home. As the table tightens Mt Gravatt know a big home win against Toowong could put them in a stable position heading into the crunch period of the season. Pine Hills need all three points at Bayside to remain in the top four hunt when they meet at Don Randall Oval on Saturday evening. The Lakes are looking to keep up the charge at the top when they host Acacia Ridge to finish off the round at home.
Women’s
After their first win Bethania will look to get another on the board at home when they host Springfield at Opperman Park. Narrowly being defeated in their first meeting, Mt Gravatt will look to be the first team to take points of North Brisbane when the two sides meet at Dittmer Park. Ipswich City would need all three points to give them a hope of a top four spot when they take on Southside Eagles who currently occupy that position. The fight for final standings is well and truly on as Toowong and Caboolture also lock horns this weekend at Dunmore Park with both sides level on points.
