Football Queensland is excited to confirm the return of Female Football Week from Wednesday, 8 March to coincide with International Women’s Day.
The nationwide initiative, which enjoyed great success in 2016, celebrates all aspects of the women’s game – from the players on the pitch, to the volunteers, to the mums who brave the early weekend mornings in support of their kids.
Football Queensland Women’s and Inclusive Football Development Officer Sarah Willington is excited for the festivities as female football continues to grow in Queensland.
“Female Football Week is for every female in the sport, from players to the unsung heroes who volunteer every weekend,” said Willington.
“We really want to recognise the mums that do the washing of the strips every week or cut the oranges at half-time. It’s those little things that really do build the sport.
“It’s a great time to be part of football and I can’t wait to see Queenslanders embrace Female Football Week in 2017.”
Football Queensland will be holding a series of events from 8-19 March with a number of clubs and zones hosting their own activities including Daddy/Daughter training sessions and Gala Days.
