Football Queensland has today commenced consultation for the Statewide Facilities Strategic Plan 2017 – 2021, which will steer planning of football’s statewide facility network over the next five years.
This plan will identify and prioritise facility needs across Queensland and improve the quality of decision making by Football Queensland and the Queensland Government regarding future funding for football facilities.
Football’s continued growth among grassroots participants has seen the sport mature to the point where it is time to look to the future with optimism.
There are over 80,000 registered footballers in Queensland and these players deserve access to the best possible playing facilities.
Consultation with Queensland’s football family will be the most important component of this planning project.
In this spirit, Football Queensland is seeking to collaborate with zones, clubs, local councils and government authorities to prepare the Football Queensland Statewide Facilities Strategic Plan 2017 – 2021.
The consultation process will include an online questionnaire for clubs, a planning workshop with Football Queensland’s 10 zones and public release of the report’s key findings and recommendations.
The project will provide strategic guidance for the improvement and development of football facilities and identify gaps in football infrastructure that may present barriers to participation.
