Football Queensland (FQ) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Robert Cavallucci, President Ben Richardson and four key members of the FQ team travelled to Wide Bay on the weekend to deliver workshop sessions for football clubs in the region.
Held at the Fraser Coast Sports Precinct on Sunday, 1 December, the visit offered an opportunity for consultation with clubs, as well as the delivery of tailored workshop sessions for club presidents, administrators, technical directors and referee coordinators.
Following the release of the 2020-2022 Strategic Plan for football in Queensland which outlines a focus on bettering the experience for all involved in the game, the workshop sessions covered the topics of club development, technology and systems, shared services for finance, marketing, coaching and refereeing, and women and girls participation.
FQ CEO Robert Cavallucci said the visit to Wide Bay reflected FQ’s focus on clubs and community, a strategic pillar identified as a priority in the strategic plan.
“It was fantastic to travel to Wide Bay to meet with club presidents, administrators and members of the local football community,” Cavallucci said.
“Football Queensland’s visit to the region allowed us to listen to our zone and regional clubs to further understand the challenges they face, so as an organisation we can better respond to their needs moving forward.
“Football Queensland is extremely pleased with the outcomes of the positive consultation we had with clubs in Wide Bay. With a new direction outlined in our strategic plan, governance, high performance structures, player pathways and the improvement of efficiencies through a shared services approach were discussed.
“The day was a clear demonstration that only by working together, united behind a common vision for the game can we meet the challenges we face.
“The workshop sessions in Wide Bay also provided a valuable opportunity to support clubs in preparing for the 2020 season. Thank you to Football Queensland Wide Bay and to our club members who attended the workshop sessions.”
