Teams will work to build some momentum for the season in Round 3 of the Football Queensland Premier League (FQPL) this weekend.
All Round 3 matches this weekend will be available to watch live and on demand on the FQ YouTube channel.
Key Matches:
SWQ Thunder v Western Pride
Former NPL Men’s opponents SWQ Thunder and Western Pride will meet for the first time in the FQPL in a Round 3 clash.
Both sides have one win and one loss to their name after the opening rounds, so the three points are well and truly up for grabs this weekend.
Thunder’s only win so far came last round with a 2-0 victory against Holland Park Hawks, following their Round 1 loss to Rochedale Rovers.
Anthony Grant has scored a goal in each match for Thunder, while the efforts of Benjamin Adams and Mirko Crociati earned both players selection in the Round 2 Team of the Week.
Western Pride meanwhile will come into their Round 2 encounter off the back of a 4-1 loss to Mitchelton on the weekend.
Yuta Hirayama may be key to helping Pride to victory following his brace in his side’s Round 1 win against Sunshine Coast FC.

Mitchelton FC v Southside Eagles

A Jaeho Hwang double in Round 1 helped Southside Eagles to a 3-1 win, and a Team of the Week appearance for Hwang, before the side recorded a 2-0 win over the weekend against Souths United.
Captain Tim Morgan has been influential for Southside Eagles in the opening rounds, scoring a goal in each match and earning a spot in the Round 2 Team of the Week as a result.
Their Round 3 opponents Mitchelton FC have played only one match this season, handing Western Pride a 4-1 win defeat last round thanks to goals from four different players.
The solid performance of Dayan Baker and Kai Barnes was enough to earn them selection in Team of the Week, as Mitchelton go into Round 3 with their sights set on securing another three points.
