Following the success of the 2022 FQ Academy U12 Cup, which saw over 3,000 players, spectators and supporters come together in the Sunshine Coast region, Football Queensland is excited to announce the 2023 FQ Junior Cup.
The event will see Under 12 boys and Under 12/13 girls FQ Academy regional sides and invited South East Queensland teams compete at the Maroochydore Football Complex from Sunday, 25 June to Tuesday, 27 June for a place in the Grand Finals.
“The 2023 FQ Junior Cup will see more than 70 teams split into two divisions for boys and one for girls, playing 250 games over the three days,” Football Queensland CEO Robert Cavallucci said.
“Providing this opportunity for players to attain more high-quality competitive match minutes is a major part of Football Queensland’s 2023 – 2026 Strategic Plan and a great chance for family and friends to see their budding football stars in action.”
“First and foremost, we encourage all players to have fun during the three days here at Maroochydore Football Club as they come up against different teams and styles of play,” FQ General Manager – Football & State Technical Director, Gabor Ganczer said.
“This new style of tournament provides an exciting platform for players who aren’t playing regular competitive football to put the skills and techniques they’ve learnt throughout the season to the test in a competitive tournament environment.
“The FQ Junior Cup also forms part of the FQ Academy program for players in the state pathway, allowing coaches another occasion to track their players’ development as part of the year-long talent identification process.
“Hosted on the beautiful Sunshine Coast, this will be a wonderful opportunity for fans of the game to explore all the region has to offer.”
The FQ Junior Cup will be supported by 91.9 Sea FM and 92.7 Mix FM and both stations will have stalls at the event with fun mini-games and giveaways for all attendees.
