372 young players from across Queensland travelled to Meakin Park over the weekend for the Under 12 SAP Boys State Carnival.
The two-day event welcomed 31 teams from North Queensland, Central Queensland, Wide Bay, South West and South East Queensland, including the QAS Girls Under 13 side.
“It was great to see some of the state’s best Under 12 players coming together for the SAP Boys State Carnival on the weekend, giving them an opportunity to refine their skills while showcasing their talent in front of Brisbane Roar Academy and FQ Talent Support Program coaches.
“The inclusion of the QAS Girls Under 13 side was also a valuable opportunity for player development and reflected FQ’s focus on creating development pathways for young male and female footballers.
“I want to say a special thank you to all players, coaches, referees and spectators for their diligence in following the COVID Safe measures which were in place at the SAP Boys State Carnival.
“Splitting the draw into a morning and afternoon session on each day worked extremely well to reduce crowd numbers at the venue at any one time, and we were very pleased with the cooperation of all in attendance.
“Thank you also to Brisbane Roar Academy, whose coaches came along on both days to conduct talent identification for the Brisbane Roar Academy’s 2021 Under 13 age group.
“Congratulations to all involved in the carnival, and I look forward to seeing you again at Football Queensland’s SAP events in future.”
