Football Queensland (FQ) has announced a series of initiatives forming part of the referee reforms being rolled out to improve the refereeing experience.
See below for information on each of the new initiatives implemented from the 2020 season onwards.
Teal Shirt Initiative
The teal shirt initiative has been implemented to encourage respect and support for first year referees, and to assist in providing a welcoming environment for referees who are new to the game.
All registered first year referees will wear a teal shirt for matches in 2020 so that they can be identified as new referees throughout the season.
Get in touch with your local Football Queensland Zone to receive your teal shirt here.
First Year Registration Pack
FQ has developed a first year referee pack in conjunction with Kappa, for first year referees for the 2020 season, included in the FQ registration fee.
The pack will consist of a uniform (teal shirt, shorts, socks), whistle, flag, book and cards.
Get in touch with your local Football Queensland Zone to receive your pack here.
Pink Armband Initiative
All registered FQ referees under the age of 18 will wear a pink armband during matches so that they can be identified as a minor.
The pink armband will be included in the registration pack for first year referees and is free for all match officials.
