Sporting Schools is Australia’s largest school-based sports participation program, providing opportunities for children to get active and connect with more than 30 community sporting organisations.
Football Queensland, in collaboration with Brisbane Roar, is the accredited Sporting Schools provider for football in Queensland.
Schools are able to select either a coach delivered program or teacher delivered program:
Coach Delivered: Most popular program where a coach is allocated to the school to deliver fun, engaging and educational sessions. All coaches are qualified through Football Australia and are trained in Physical Literacy.
Teacher Delivered: School receives session plan manual, interactive workbook and teacher professional development via webinars. A teacher from the school delivers each session with support from FFA and Football Queensland.
Sporting Schools football programs can run before, during and after school and are available for all primary Schools and high schools (year 7 & 8 only).
Applying for the Program
1. Schools need to register with Sporting Schools to be eligible to apply for funding. Funding for term 2 in 2021 is now open and closes on Friday, 12 March 2021.
2. If your school meets the eligibility criteria, you can apply for funding each term to deliver Sporting Schools activities before, during or after school hours.
3. Once your school has had their funding application approved you can apply for football packages that meet your needs via the online booking system. The booking system will allow your school to administer and manage booking requests.
4. It is important that your school completes the Sport Aus acquittal process. Acquitting is Sport Aus’ assurance that your school has used the funds according to the program parameters and terms and conditions.
