Following an extensive recruitment search and rigorous selection process, Football Queensland is pleased to announce the appointment of Richard Griffiths as FQ Chief Operating Officer.
Richard will join FQ on 11 September, and his initial focus will be on the establishment of our new elite competition structure for 2018 and maintaining integrity across PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland, PlayStation 4 NPL Women’s Queensland and Football Queensland Premier League.
Richard comes to FQ with a wealth of experience in sports administration, including 15 years as Chief Executive Officer of AFL Queensland.
During his time at AFLQ Richard led a growth strategy, which resulted in a 144% increase in participation and also managed significant facility development projects across the state, including the construction of AFLQ’s $5 million headquarters.
He was heavily involved in the creation of the North East Australian Football League, experience that will be particularly relevant as he turns his attention to the new FQPL and existing PS4 NPL QLD.
More recently, Richard was COO of the GWS Giants, where he focused on government funding and project managed the development of the Giant’s Training and Administration facility.
Richard’s knowledge of the Queensland sporting landscape and experience dealing with government and local council will be a major asset for FQ.
